Privacy Policy
Divello is made by JGEEE LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Divello app for iPhone.
The short version
- We don't collect your data. Divello has no accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- Your groups and expenses are stored in iCloud, run by Apple. We can't see them.
- People you share a group with can see that group's details, including your name.
Where your information is stored
Your groups and expenses. Everything you enter (group names and dates, member names, expenses, amounts, currencies, categories, notes and payments between members) is saved on your iPhone and synced through your iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Groups you create are kept in your iCloud storage. We have no access to your iCloud data. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Receipt photos. Photos you attach to an expense are shrunk on your iPhone, and their location and camera details are removed, before they're saved. They're stored with the group in iCloud, so everyone in the group can see them, and they count toward the organizer's iCloud storage. Taking a photo uses the camera only when you choose to; choosing one from your library shares only the photos you pick.
Shared groups. When you invite people to a group, that group stays in the organizer's iCloud storage, and everyone who joins can see and change it. Anyone who has an active invite link can join, so share links only with people you mean to invite. The organizer can turn the link off or remove members at any time.
Your name. When you join a group, Divello reads the name on your iCloud account to fill in your member name, and members of a group can see each other's iCloud names. Divello also saves an anonymous iCloud user identifier on your member so the app can recognize you on your other devices. This identifier doesn't reveal your email address or phone number.
Settings on your device. A few preferences stay on your iPhone only: whether you've seen the welcome screen, which member in each group is you, and which view you last used. Groups you hide from Home are remembered in iCloud key-value storage so the choice follows you to your other devices.
Exchange rates
When you add an expense in another currency, Divello requests exchange rates from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), a free, open-source rate service. The request contains only the currencies and the date. Like any web request, it reaches their server from your device's internet address. No names, amounts or group details are sent. Rates are saved on your device so they can be reused offline.
Purchases
Divello Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details or Apple Account. Divello checks on your iPhone whether you own Pro. If you organize a group, the group records that its organizer has Pro, so its members get Pro features there.
Exports
PDF and CSV reports are created on your iPhone. They go only where you choose to send them with the share sheet.
Crash reports
If you've chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. We use them only to fix problems. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Deleting your information
- Delete an expense or a group in the app. Deleting a group you organize removes it for everyone in it.
- Leave a shared group from the group's Members screen, or the organizer can remove you.
- To remove all of Divello's iCloud data, open Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, choose Divello and delete its data. Deleting the app removes what's stored on your iPhone.
Children
Divello isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Since we don't collect personal information at all, there's nothing for us to delete, but a parent can remove a child's data using the steps above.
Your rights
Because we don't collect or hold your personal information, we have nothing to access, correct, sell or share. If you live somewhere that gives you privacy rights (such as the EU, UK or California), you can still contact us with any request and we'll answer it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Divello handles information, we'll update this policy and its effective date, and describe significant changes in the app's release notes.
